Teeth WhiteningOur office uses several whitening methods to improve the appearance of teeth: In-office whitening, passive tray whitening, and professional strength whitening strips. The end result of all procedures is generally the same. The in-office method is quicker, taking about an hour, whereas the at-home procedure is generally less expensive.

In-Office Whitening |
The in-office tooth whitening procedure is effective, simple, and rapid: In just over an hour, your teeth can be dramatically whiter. It begins with the placement of a device that isolates your lips and gums. The clinician then applies a whitening gel that will be activated either chemically or by a special light. Teeth typically become at least six to ten shades whiter, and a fluoride treatment completes the procedure. Afterward, maintenance trays with whitening gel are recommended to ensure maximum whitening.

Custom
|
The tray method involves the taking of impressions, which a laboratory will then use to fabricate custom vinyl trays fitted to your teeth. You will be given both your custom trays as well as a carbamide peroxide gel. The trays—with the gel applied—are worn for about 30 minutes or overnight, depending on the recommended concentration. The entire process takes about 2 weeks of daily use. Three different strengths of gel may be used.
